The Young In Touch series begins Thursday at the High Point Public Library in the audio visual room at 7 p.m. Co-sponsored by the library and the High Point Youth Council, the program will explore multimedia approaches to problem probing with an adult group leader guiding each session.
The Episcopal Church narrowly defeated a bid to allow women to be ordained as priests and to become bishops. Clergy voting 38 yes 31 no blocked the lay majority of 49 to 28 after 13 divided votes. Church leaders warned of fallout with Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodoxy, while theologians argued for ordination rights.
