After two days of voir dire a 12 member jury including two women was seated to hear whether former Interior Secretary Albert B. Fall and oil promoter Harry F. Sinclair conspired in disposing of the navy Teapot Dome lease. Kester Bridges seven year old son of C A Bridges of the Lattimore area in Cleveland County was killed when pinned beneath his father's overturned car in Bessemer City. In Asheville on October 18 AP reports J. P. Gibson, 67, told his wife he had nothing to live for and shot himself in the next room after warning her of his plan. The wife, with a broken hip, heard his final act through a doorway and called for help. Dr. J. L. Carroll, county coroner, confirmed instantaneous death.
