Morganton resident Mrs Martha Avery Phifer widow of Geo L Phifer died Sunday at 4 pm at age 74 after months of illness. A member of the Avery family she is a daughter of the late Col Moultam Avery of Confederate army fame and has many notable kin across the state.

Lindsay Funeral Held This Afternoon

Funeral service for A. H. Lindsay, who died Monday night, was held at his Jordan Street home at 2 PM with Dr. Gilbert T. Rowe of Wesley Memorial Church in charge. Pallbearers included P. H. T J Gold Addresses Democratic Rally Tuesday

Thomas J. Gold spoke at an Iron Works rally in Rockingham County yesterday. He praised Woodrow Wilson and his administration, noting the crowd gave him close attention and treated him well. Gold, the Democratic nominee for elector from the fifth district, said it was good to be there.

City Council Debates Garage Regulations and Street Work

The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. J. Campbell died last night at 1 o'clock at their home 12 Willis Street due to pneumonia. The body was shipped to Bicoe this afternoon where interment will take place.
