Emery E. Raper, president of the Davidson county bar and dean of practicing lawyers, died at 11:25 yesterday in the courthouse after a stroke of angina pectoris. He collapsed while serving as counsel in Overcash v. Southern Railway in superior court. Raper had been ill for months and had been advised to retire from work.
