Old Colored Couple Help Shape High Point City Hall Site
Perry V. Kirkman recounts the tale of Bill and Emiline Taylor, a saddle colored couple who saved and traveled to their final days near the site of the present High Point city hall. The city later bought their home for seven to eight thousand dollars, and their funeral arrangements featured a grand mausoleum leading to a storied graveyard patch.
