One Million Dollar Campaign To Promote Furniture Sales
A Chicago based public relations firm leads the Home Furnishings Council of America HFCA in a $1 million five year advertising drive to boost furniture sales. Consumers would fund the campaign via a small add on furniture costs with retailers passing the cost to customers. The plan includes a Crusade for American Home and Family Stability led by Dr George Heaton and aims to lift furniture's share of consumer spending from 2.5 to 3 percent, with goals to reach 1963 among others.
