City of Honolulu Ablaze Off California Coast
A Los Angeles to Honolulu steamer with about 300 passengers aboard was reported afire two days off San Pedro. The City of Honolulu, a 7,500 ton ship on a six month trial, left September 23 with tourists among the passengers. A rescue steamer is rushing to aid the imperiled vessel and another is expected to reach it early this afternoon.
