Mrs Albe Stoll, a 26 year old former Bryn Mawr student, was abducted from the Stoll home in Louisville by a white faced man demanding a 50000 dollar ransom. Police and federal agents swarmed the area as officials vowed to bring her back alive. The assailant subdued a maid, swapped the telephone line, and fled in a car during the afternoon hours.
The U S Department of Justice says its manhunt in the Lindbergh baby case is finished as Bruno Hauptmann is indicted for extortion and murder. Officials say the next steps depend on legal strategy though parts of the case remain debated among federal agents. The agency details $46 681 traced to Hauptmann since the ransom payment and funds diverted to banks and brokerages, with $14 600 of ransom money found on premises and purchases including a radio field glasses and silverware.
