Baptist Hospital Expansion Discussed At Meeting
More than 100 High Point Baptists gathered at First Baptist Church for a supper meeting on the North Carolina Baptist Hospital enlargement campaign. Dr C C Carpenter outlined state wide benefits and Wake Forest College's medical school move and four year expansion to Winston-Salem. Hospital Superintendent Smith Hagaman cited space shortages and beds crowded into alcoves, urging enlargement to double facilities and ease overcrowding. Grover H Jones chaired, recalling an earlier Winston-Salem rally where 800 citizens voiced strong support for the project.
