Paris reports Premier Daladier in a radio address pledging France will not lay down arms until a certain peace is secured. He blasted Hitler’s promises, warned against German aggression, and urged continued sacrifice to oppose force and secure lasting security for western civilization.
Paris reports say French troops repelled numerous German assaults south of Saarbruecken with hand grenades and rifle fire as both sides rush troops and materiel. German raids aimed to seize prisoners for information. French communiques note active enemy patrols east and west of Saar. Premier Daladier prepared a radio address likely restating war aims amid growing German activity.
Washington October 10 Mrs Franklin D Roosevelt addressing Dies committee testimony denied any Communist link with guests at a White House tea two years ago and defended her acquaintance with Hinckley Cadden and other youth workers saying they are not Communists. She challenged Kenneth Goff's claim about Hinckley and said people may misrepresent her name without remedy.
