Ford contract adds 13 days off annually for workers
DETROIT AP The UAW National Ford Council voted to ratify a three year contract with Ford, adding 13 extra paid days off for average assembly line workers over the life of the deal. Pay raises average 12 percent, with retirees receiving up to $600 cash supplements and expanded health care. By 1978 the typical assembler would earn about $8.34 an hour including cost‑of‑living increases. Local plant ratifications and key locations still unsettled, potentially delaying full return from a 25 day strike.
