Washington reports cotton ginned in the current crop before October 1 totaling 4,958,846 running bales with 87,186 round bales counted as half bales and 3,799 bales of American-Egyptian varieties. The update reflects early season ginning figures released by the census bureau.
New Orleans reports cotton rose about a dollar per bale after the government crop estimate set the 1 October condition at 55.9 percent and a projected lint yield of 165.9 pounds per acre.
