Paris dispatch reports James K Hackett American actor long based in Paris died today at 81. He rose to fame as a leading man from the 1890s with The Prisoner of Zenda and Rupert of Hentzau, later achieving Shakespearean triumphs in Othello and Macbeth in London and Paris. Hackett was born September 6 1864 in Wolf Island Ontario and educated at the College of the City of New York. He later built a career as actor manager with theaters in New York Chicago Boston and London.
