Carl Lippard, alleged head of a million dollar-a-year liquor operation in Charlotte, was sentenced to 1 month on the road after a jury found him guilty of conspiracy to violate prohibition laws. Two co defendants were convicted, three acquitted. Lip pard got six months on the roads, Correll six months suspended. Others acquitted. judge overruled a motion to set aside verdicts. Counsel gave notice of appeal to the supreme court. Theatre guilds note: early protections for actors traced to ancient Greece.
