British Troops Attack Nazi Position Near Faenza

British forces outflank Faenza and reach the Lamone river three miles southwest of the Bologna Rimini highway. Allied HQ says Germans defending a new delaying position as Belvedere village is involved in the fighting. Election Board To Canvass Tomorrow In North Carolina

The state board of elections will canvass the November 7 vote in Raleigh tomorrow and the Democratic electors meet December 18 to cast votes for President Roosevelt and Vice President-elect ion. The board continues an inquiry into the Davidson County election where 198 civilian absentee ballots were challenged by Republicans for alleged frauds and forgeries. The case began in Lexington on November 15.

Army takes London house committee for UK inspection

Prisoners Escape from Richmond Prison Camp

Eight short term inmates overpowered guard Lean at the Richmond county prison camp and escaped after seizing his keys. Convicts named include Boyd Rindehardt 17 Oscar James 24 Blocker 18 Wilbur Lett 20 James Thomas Grant 27 Elmer Lewis Carraway 26 Henry Lee Taylor 23 and Joe Potts 21. They fled after locking the fence and leaving the cell block following the guard’s assault.

Marine Private First Class Pearlimon L. Denes of Burlington North Carolina was wounded when an artillery shell exploded near him while returning for water at Guam. The incident occurred after he volunteered to bring up a canteen of water.

Landmark Of Thomasville Is Destroyed

Fire destroys the old Dr. C. A. Julian house in Thomasville, injuring June Weir 70. The 12 room colonial structure owned by Harry Lee Lambeth burned rapidly, with $10 000 damage and $2 000 contents loss. Weir treated at City Memorial hospital. Mrs. C. B. Carter and guests escaped. Fire department fought the blaze but could not save the building.

Losses From Fifth Luzon Raid Reported By Navy

Admiral Nimitz announced a fifth Luzon strike with heavy damage to the Manila area. A Japanese cruiser and destroyer were sunk along with 14 other ships and 72 planes. two luggers and four cargo ships were damaged, as Saipan reports confirmed the sea rescue of a B 29 crew.

Superfortress Air Strike Hits Tokyo in Second Wave

A large force of B 29 bombers attacked Tokyo again as part of a coordinated air campaign with strikes on Bangkok and central Honshu. Commanded by Brig. Gen. Haywood Sweeny Jr and Maj.
