News despatch describes clashes near Chihuahua with Carranza forces losing one general two colonels and 100 men while about 400 Villa fighters were killed or left on the field. Chinese refugees reach Juarez as Huerta’s supporters reportedly drift toward Villa.
An American passenger from Chihuahua City reports over 1,000 Trevino commanded troops defected to Villa without a shot. Villa resumes attack at 9 o clock, gunfire from Santa Rosa hill and streets. Juarez officials say Trevino is low on ammunition, aiding Villa’s surprise move.
A single 6 522 pound tobacco load, claimed to be the largest marketed here, sold for 2055 dollars at an average of nearly 32 cents per pound. The crop was grown by I Young Greene, a Vance county farmer.

London, Nov 24. Sir Hiram Maxim, famed inventor of the Maxim machine gun and pioneer in aeronautics, died at his home in London early today. Born in Maine in 1840, Maxim was knighted in 1901 and helped shape British military and aviation engineering. His son, Hiram Percy Maxim, is known for the Maxim silencer.
