Boxing Boss Sets Winter Plans for Dempsey and Tunney
New York November 22 Tex Rickard outlined boxing plans for heavyweights Dempsey and Tunney after a Newark court dropped Jack Kearns suit alleging a split of a third of a million dollars. Dempsey will not fight this winter at Madison Square Garden and Tunney may not fight until late June or July with exclusive rights and possible delays. Rickard expects Dempsey to fight the winter winner in spring at Yankee Stadium unless changes occur. He stressed Tunney’s first bout next year is his and may be delayed to August or September if conditions warrant.
