Bald eagle shot in Maine leaves wing shattered
A two year old bald eagle in CRONO Maine is being treated around the clock after a gunshot shattered its wing. Veterinarians at the University of Maine wildlife division say the bird will never fly again though the Saturday condition is stable. If it survives officials plan to move it to a federal sanctuary in Patuxent Maryland. Two other young eagles were killed this year on the Penobscot and Kennebec Rivers. The injured eagle likely hatched in central Maine, where bald eagles nest as the only New England state with nests and about 80 eagles total.
