British Officers Break Hindenburg Line Front Wide
On November 21, 1917 Lieutenant General Julan Byng led a major British assault along a 30 mile front from Arras to St Quentin breaking the Hindenburg line to depths of one to five miles. Thirteen villages and over 9000 prisoners fell as the front neared Cambrai. Concurrently British forces in Palestine advanced five miles northwest of Jerusalem. The House of Commons passed an amendment to the Electoral Bill disenfranchising conscientious objectors to war.
