Lexington Widow Is Held Without Bail In Deaths

Mrs. Lola Pendleton Pickett a 44 year old widow was held without bail for Superior Court after a preliminary hearing found probable cause she poisoned her six year old daughter Elizabeth. An older daughter Virginia died last May and a coroner s jury ruled poisoning but did not accuse Mrs. Pickett. The two deaths prompted exhumation and re examination of Virginia s body following Elizabeth s death in September. Sheriff J A Leonard filed the murder charge after a warrant was sworn.
