Man survives buried wood chips after 90 minutes ordeal

Officer Fires After Suspected Gunfire In Hostage Car
Raleigh News and Observer reports a Virginia state trooper was killed when a car carrying him was seized. An NC trooper fired four shotgun blasts after fearing gunfire inside. Conley, 33, of Atlanta, was wounded and hospitalized. Authorities say 5 to 8 officers fired in the chase near Durham on I 85 after a roadblock was set up with a truck appearance.
