Improved Camera Live Color TV For Apollo 12 Moonwalks
AP Science writer Bill Stockton reports that Apollo 12 will feature a refurbished color television camera to broadcast Charles Conrad Jr. and Alan Bean’s moonwalks with reduced ghost images and smoother motion. The live feed, delayed briefly for conversion, will show close ups via a zoom lens as the astronauts descend the lunar lander at 5:52 a.m. EST and complete their first walk by 9:18 a.m. EST with a second transmission slated for 12:53 a.m. EST the next day.
