AP reports a surge of enemy shellings across South Vietnam placing U S and allied forces on alert around Saigon. Two Americans killed and 23 wounded as 28 rocket and mortar attacks were recorded. Military sources anticipate heavier strikes and ground actions similar to Nov. 4 while dismissing links to President Nixon's Vietnam policy speech and U S antiwar demonstrations. One Viet Cong document east of Saigon mentions weekend attacks in support of protests, described as a unique case.
