Chigger Control May Have Contaminated Turkeys
Washington AP reports thousands of turkeys contained heptachlor residue from land treated to control chiggers. About 150,000 live turkeys and four million pounds of turkey meat were held from the Thanksgiving market after the Oct. 9 Minnesota plant finding. Officials caution contamination may have come from range lands used to graze the birds, with no confirmed human poisoning yet.
