Hospital escapee from S C convicted of murder
Mannie Lee Law 21 of Florence found guilty of murder by a 12 jurors panel after an all night deliberation. Judge Frank Taylor set execution for Wednesday as the law imposes the death penalty. Stalheim, 61, a Carolina Power & Light executive, was shot and found in a soybean field Sept. 12, 1974, five months after Law’s escapes from the State Hospital in Columbia.

Veterans Hearings To Begin In Salisbury
Veterans representatives were to testify at the first of nationwide hearings on medical programs for veterans. The 8th District Congressman Bill Hefner chairs the session at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salisbury. N Plant refuels during two month Hartsville shutdown
