Governor Says State Cannot Back Private Colleges
Gov. Bob Scott states North Carolina cannot bear the financial load of 41 private colleges and urges continued cooperation between private and state-supported higher education. He notes 139,441 students in 1970-71 with projections of 160,000 by 1975 and stresses growth in quality or quantity to meet demand.
