Land Price Case May Go To Court
Asheboro—Randolph County Board of Education may go to court over the price asked for land at Randleman High School sought by the state highway commission. The parcel borders had moved and the asking price would be 300 dollars. Superintendent John Lawrence said the highway commission wanted the school plus the cost of fire protection. The board settled by court action. Lawrence also told the board state officials do not recommend schools join local fire districts and that schools should notify fire district officials they want help in case of fire. The fee charged by fire officials was payable from fire insurance policies carried by the schools.
