An auto struck a 11 year old girl on a sidewalk in the 80 block of E Washington Street killing her and injuring a 14 year old companion. The dead girl was Teressa Jeanette Robinson of Richardson Street. The injured girl, Peggy Jo Morrison of Cedar Street, was at High Point Memorial Hospital in non critical condition. The driver, Covington Melton, 33, of High Point, was in the car with minor injuries. Investigation ongoing. no charges filed yet.
