The city school system's Textile Advisory Committee will hold its first meeting Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the schools administration building on English Road. Officers will be elected and Cindy Olinger will lead a discussion of the textile program.
Guilford County Humane Society schedules its general meeting for Thursday at 8 p.m. in Jamestown Town Hall with Bob Wray of the Animal Shelter as speaker. United Methodist Women of Wesley Memorial Church sponsor a bazaar on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the church fellowship hall offering foods plants pillows and crafts with lunch at noon.
Robert A Brinson opens a practice at 626 Rockspring Rd Suite 611 in the North Carolina National Bank building. A High Point native, he graduated from Wofford College in Spartanburg with a BA English, attended UNC Greensboro School of Business, and earned a law degree from Wake Forest University. He is the son of Mrs. Joe M Brinson and the late Mr Brinson and is married to Ann Williams of Jacksonville Florida.
Educational seminars focusing on exceptional and disadvantaged children are set for November 8 to 10 at the Hyatt House in Winston-Salem. About 2,500 teachers and administrators are expected, with short courses by national educators, a film festival, and demonstrations of instructional games. Panels will address parent engagement, funding, evaluation, and superintendents’ perspectives.
GREENSBORO The 26 000 students in the county system will miss school Thursday and Friday as teachers use the days to finish records for the first nine weeks. The second nine weeks begins Monday. Tom Chapman 14 son of Mr and Mrs Boyd Chapman of 1113 Bridges Dr received his ??? on Sunday at Calvary Methodist Church from Rev Herman Beck. He is a ninth grader at Griffin Junior High School.
Rozier Cohen Johnson has operated the field glass concession at Saratoga race track for 59 years. He calls the 59th season one of the best at the Spa. Johnson also runs concessions at Belmont Park and Aqueduct in downstate New York.
