The state votes on a five cent per ton tax on feed and fertilizer to fund research and teaching. Citizens signed an appeal to start a “Bank of Person on a penny.” Democrats Mr and Mrs Peter Robinson paid county taxes with 800 yellowed dimes, a practice they say has lasted six years.

A Brooklyn lawyer Marcus Siegel, 45, is indicted by grand juries in Manhattan Queens and Brooklyn for masterminding a black market baby adoption ring spanning from Massachusetts to Florida. He and nine others allegedly sold babies to foster parents for 800 to 1500 dollars and fixed fake adoption papers while coaching lies about conditions. The case arose after a mother sought her baby back and a fake death certificate prompted a probe. Conviction on Manhattan charges could carry prison terms.
