W Sherman Burns of the Burns Detective agency rejected claims of jury tampering tied to the Fall Sinclair trial. He said agency personnel in Washington are under grand jury review and that the agency cannot discuss the matter publicly, asserting no employee acted improperly or broke the law.
In Ravensford Swain county a lone physician Dr Reeves tends 75 measles cases and multiple diptheria cases amid poverty at the Whitmer Parsons Lumber camp where workers are under receivership. He works without pay as no nurses or trained staff are available and coal funds the camp’s electric lights.

Paris November 2 AP Charles Humbert former French senator tried and acquitted in the Bolo Pasha treason case during World War I and exonerated of fraud in American war contracts in 1919 died here today. Humbert was a prominent figure in military preparation before the war and campaigned for more cannon and ammunition through the senate and newspapers.
Mrs A C Pait, renowned dramatic elocutionist and classic soloist, will give a recital tomorrow night at 8 at the St Stephens A M E Zion church in this city. The public is urged to attend.

H C Caviness a retired Asheboro leader died at home from paralysis at 66. Funeral services are set for 2 PM tomorrow at Asheboro M E Church with Rev B C Reabis officiating. Burial in family plot. He was born at Cheeks and moved to Randolph County in 1905 and lived in the city since. Survived by three children Z M Caviness and Mrs James G Crutchfield of Asheboro and C C Caviness of Washington.
Willie Moore ten year old is charged with distilling whiskey after deputies report an operating still found near Greenville North Carolina. The deputy sheriffs announced the arrest following the discovery and seizure of materials at the scene.
Tommy Armour of Washington national open champion moves one up on Tom Harmon of Yonkers by the end of the first nine holes in the second round of the PGA tournament in Ballas Texas.
In Walsenburg I W W workers vote to resume picketing despite Governor Adams decree that protests must stop. About 400 miners attend shouting to hell with martial law and kill the guy who don t want to picket. Governor warns of state intervention if picketing spreads.
Funeral services for 22 year old Ross Sexton of Trinity were held at Kenyon church Denton after a grade crossing collision near Hannersville in Davidson county also killing Charlies Lanier 32 of High Point. Lanier’s services were announced from Thomasville where his body rests at Russell funeral home and will be held at the same church.
Theodore M. R. Von Keler aged 49, former Abendpost associate editor, was found dead in Lake Michigan after the body had been in the water about three days. He previously worked for Collier’s Magazine and Library Magazine among other publications.
Joseph Bennett of Philadelphia, jailed in Wake County for 30 days on vagrancy, enters the fifth day of a hunger strike. He repeats I want to die, accepts only coffee, refuses jailer and fellow prisoners, and shows weakening condition under close watch after injuring himself earlier at a convict road camp.
