D A R R presents constitution house in Halifax County

The twenty second annual North Carolina D A R state conference closed with officers elected and the presentation of the constitution house the former NC constitution site in Halifax County now cared for by the D A R chapters. The house was bought in 1920 after previous attempts and is open to the public.

State historian Anna Blair reported chapters compiled a volume for the Smithsonian. Mrs Ralph Van Landingham urged chapters to collect local histories and church records for Memorial hall. Miss Alice Louise McCnuffy urged support for Ellis Island Americanization work. Adele Wineskie performed a recital and delegates dined at the Sheraton hosted by the Kiwanis club.

Gypsy Joseph Williams Buried in Oakwood Cemetery

Joseph Williams, a lone gypsy, died here under pitiful circumstances weeks ago and was buried this afternoon in Oakwood cemetery. His widow and her brother Jakie Baker visited High Point to pay last respects and arrange the burial. No service was held prior to the interment.

Railway leader Thomas Dewitt Cuyler Dies in Train Car

Thomas Dewitt Cuyler a Pennsylvania railroad director and chairman of the railroad executives association was found dead by apoplexy today in President Rea s private car at Broad Street station. Negro "King" Shot in Camp Grove Dispute

In Danville Virginia on November 2 Bud Walker a prominent local figure known as the un crowned king of Camp Grove was killed after a confrontation over a young woman Anna Jones. Walker recently wed the widow of G T Pritchett and had a record of speeding violations and luxury spending. A man identified as Londeman was detained after Walker allegedly attacked him with a knife leading to a fatal shot.

Back Broken in Auto Accident Near Petersburg

In Dinwiddie County Virginia last night two men and two women were injured when a car overturned on the Squirrel Level road. Gilbert A. Herzog, 25, is critically injured with a broken back and paralyzed legs. Leonard Kirkland, the driver, was badly cut and bruised. Herzog, son of W. A. Herzog and an employee of Union Trust Company, is not expected to survive. The two women suffered only slight injuries and their names were not disclosed.

Negro charged with stabbing near Wilson Mills

W F Boyett a tenant farmer was stabbed to death at his home near Wilson Mills yesterday afternoon. William McMillan, a Black man, was charged with murder after fleeing the scene and being arrested nearby. Authorities say the pair argued over weighed cotton before the attack.

Old Jamestown citizen dies after two months illness

William Franklin Causey 1851 209 died at his Jamestown home about 9 30 this morning after a two month pneumonia illness. A carpenter by trade he lived in Jamestown most of his life with a Greensboro sojourn of 15 years. Survived by widow a son C W Causey of Winston Salem four daughters all named with Greensboro Alamance and Richmond Va ties and three sisters in Alamance Norfolk. Funeral Friday at 2 pm at his Jamestown home conducted by Rev R C Stubbins and Rev W C Jones interment Greenhill cemetery Greensboro.
