The German undersea merchantman Deutschland unloads 750 tons of cargo valued by Captain Koenig at ten million dollars. Officials prepare for inquiry on its status while New London residents greet the captain with a dinner offer and await the manifesto.
Victor Carlstrom left Chicago at 6 00 9 o clock for New York planning a nonstop journey. He carries a sack of mail with letters from Chicago officials to New York officials. Included are communications intended for the Deutschland at New London Connecticut.
Victor Carlatrom flew a light plane south of Mishawaka at 70 to 90 mph around 702 this morning. He planned a route between Laporte and South Bend and stated his course would follow the New York Central tracks six miles north of his position as he passed by.
Aviator Carlstrom flying from Chicago to New York landed in Erie at 11 26 due to time trouble and engine trouble. He had established a new American non stop flight record. Eric, midway between Chicago and New York, planned to depart soon and hoped to reach New York by six.
City reports Villa bandits boarded a southbound passenger train near Carranza and robbed a passenger and women, taking their clothing after the shots. The incident occurred with guards firing and the bandits fleeing southbound toward Darez Mienday.

Firemen were summoned to Gian Furniture plant yesterday at 3 30 P M for a roof fire on a dip kiln caused by saw dust and a spark from the boiler room. Minor damage reported. Shortly after, another alarm from Jux Oo Flint Street near Myrtle Desk company for a residence blaze burning a hand sized area in a side wall.
Raleigh November 2 The North Carolina society D A R adjourned after electing Mrs T B Morrison of Asheville regent for the coming term. Other officers named were Mrs W P Mercer Elm City vice regent and Miss Kaee Jones Asheville corresponding secretary. Mrs James M Dunlap Asheville was re elected treasurer. The remaining four officers to be chosen next year per custom.
Dr G R Servin a naturalized American was arrested in Tucson on November 1 charged with conspiracy to export arms to revolutionaries in Mexico. Warrants were issued for several others. Authorities seized arms and munitions. Servin denied complicity.
Berry Farlow, a young white man, pleaded guilty in federal court to blowing and robbing the Spencer post office safe. He was sentenced to 10 years in the federal prison at Atlanta. Farlow had escaped from a Georgia prison where he was serving a sentence for manslaughter.
The city anticipates the largest election turnout in its history next Tuesday with about Zee registered voters. Northeast High Point shows 414 registrations, southeast 820, northwest 629, and southwest 619. Democrats and Republicans are closely split with independents and no party preference also present.
Malcolm Spoon aged 21 son of Mr and Mrs S H Spoon of Archdale was killed yesterday morning near Kurt Virginia while trying to cut an air hose between two cars on an extra work train on the Southern Railway main line. He was a brakeman on the train and died instantly when the cars pressed him. The body was brought to Danville and High Point for burial preparations. He is survived by his parents a sister Mrs Pan Burns of Greensboro who shared his home. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at North Main Street Methodist Protestant Church at 2 30 p m with Rev A G Dixon and Rev E N Crowder officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Judge J. S. Manning, noted figure in North Carolina, spent a short time in High Point yesterday afternoon. He was greeted at the station by a local delegation and entertained during his brief stay.
President Wilson arrives in New York for a single day of campaigning. He travels by auto to the Hudson River and boards the Mayflower yacht for meetings with Col. E. M. House and McCormick. He skips the afternoon bazaar to visit Democratic headquarters and prepare his night speech.
A coal dealer warned that only two cold days remain for High Point before coal runs out. Shortages persist as mines slow, stores receive small shipments, and prices rise, with no improvement in sight. One seller joked withdrawal may push residents to move to the country.
