Insurance Complaints Pay Off In North Carolina Hearing
In Raleigh the 15 Winnebago and Travco owners who attended an insurance hearing won a win as state officials ordered lower liability rates for motor homes. The change, reclassifying motor homes from miscellaneous vehicles to pleasure private passenger autos, could cut costs by nearly half. Deputy Commissioner Tatum cited a 1975 loss ratio of 7 percent vs 19.3 and 23.8 in prior years. A follow up hearing will review other motor home insurance rates.

Fertilizer Costs Fall as Supplies Rise Says NC State
Extension economists at North Carolina State University report fertilizer is cheaper and more available this year after two years of high prices and tight supply. They expect supplies to meet or exceed demand this spring with some spot shortages due to transport hiccups. Some fertilizers were 40 percent cheaper in parts of the Midwest last winter as annual domestic use fell for the first time since 1956 while production capacity rose and export demand declined.
