Greensboro police investigate Howard Fuller and other Durham antipoverty agency workers amid last week's bloody disorders at North Carolina A&T State University. Lt. S. N. Ford says Fuller and another person were seen in a car previously tied to the unrest.
Ford said the car, owned by the Foundation for Community Development seeking a $900,000 grant from the Office of Economic Opportunity, carried weapons in its trunk a few days earlier. Williams, Fuller, and Lee Jr. allegedly bought rifles and ammunition. authorities noted no law forbids purchases if properly registered.
President Nixon urged Congress to approve a 2.6 billion foreign aid request for the new fiscal year, about 90 million more than last year, framing it as essential to world peace and justice. The plan allocates 2.2 billion for economic aid, 375 million for arms aid, and 75 million to spur private investment in developing lands.
