State Deaths: Joshua Beck 79 Dies at Home Near Thomasville
Special Deaths report Joshua Beck 79 dies at his home south of Thomasville after a short illness. He is the son of the late Ambrose and Elizabeth Hep ler Beck of Davidson County. Surviving are his widow Julia Ward, three sons McCoy Titus and Obed Beck of Thomasville, two daughters Haylon Hightower and Robey Bodenheimer, one brother Hilley Beck, and twelve grandchildren.

Dr Edward Mack Elected Moderator at Presbyterian Assembly
Dr Edward Mack of Union Seminary Richmond Va was elected moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States on the second ballot succeeding W M Everett of Atlanta Ga. The assembly opened with reports from permanent and special committees on pastorates confessions and theological seminaries as well as agency trustees. Opening sermon by Dr W V Gardner of Atlanta warned that the foundation of faith is under threat and urged the church to show evidence of God's existence.
