Democratic party rule on improper influence ignored by officials
In Raleigh the North Carolina Democratic party faces a break with its plan of organization as eight to nine candidates named to the State Executive Committee and other party posts have not resigned their party positions despite a rule requiring resignation when running for elective office. State officials say such lapses have occurred before but are not enforced, while Thad Eure asserts the rule means candidates must resign and vacancies be filled within 15 days.
