Graduation exercises set for June 7 at 8 p.m. with Dr. Lois Edinger from UNC Greensboro to speak and Rev. Douglas Corriher delivering the invocation. Commencement sermons planned June 5 at 8 p.m. by Rev. James L. Pharr. A Capella Choir directed by Mrs. Florence Greene to provide music as seniors and faculty receive honors.

Retired Bishop J H Straughn will be honored by High Pointe trustees at a May 29 luncheon. He was born in Centreville Maryland and educated at several colleges. He served as bishop from 1939 to 1948 and attended major ecumenical conferences in London and Oxford.

Stamey Receives SFMA James T. Ryan Service Award
A.W. Cooney Stamey of Point Bureau Fairchild Publications earned the SFMA James T. Ryan Service Award at the Southern Furniture market closing session. The honor recognizes outstanding contribution to the industry, with Stamey a 50-year newspaperman who joined Fairchild in 1946 and led the High Point Bureau until his retirement in 197? Shedding light on his career, the award includes a deluxe Bible set and a letters scrapbook from industry leaders.
