April Food Price Rise Largest Since January
Washington AP reports consumer prices rose 0.4 percent in April led by a 0.6 percent rise in food costs. The Labor Department notes gains in fresh fruits vegetables coffee pork poultry and dairy, while beef prices fell 0.6 percent. President Ford called the April rise slightly higher than March but within predictions for 1976.

Proposals to deny 322 million for 60 more Minuteman TI missiles and to delay AWACS aircraft until NATO buys the system were slated for Monday. Senate had earlier delayed BI bomber production to Feb 1, 1961, with a 44 to 37 vote.
