Kindergarten Pupils Present Circus At Year Five
Approximately a hundred people gathered at Mrs. Louis Voorhees home to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Voorhees Modern Kindergarten School. Pupils performed a circus play with each child as a circus animal. Candy peanuts and popcorn were sold at decorated booths. Clowns mingled with the crowd as the year ends with a picnic planned for May 27. Mrs. Voorhees received a silver platter from the children in appreciation of her work.

American Legion Auxiliary Benefit Party At Sheraton Decided Success
The American Legion Auxiliary held a successful benefit party yesterday in the Sheraton ballroom. Thirty-one bridge, rock, and bingo tables drew prizes for top scorers and lucky players. Proceeds support local rehabilitations, veteran families, community service, and child welfare with refreshments served after games.

In Asheboro on May 18 Mrs Frazier Nance and Mrs Stanton Pressnery hosted the Natural Bridge club at Mrs Nance’s Cranford street home honoring Mrs George Ward and Miss Evelyn Hughes. Three bridge tables, roses and sweet peas adorned the rooms with prizes won by Mrs Ernest Kieswetter high score a bridge set, Miss Doris Milks second high a tea towel, and visitor’s high score a box of handkerchiefs. Ward formerly Miss Alice Wright received six crystal sherbet glasses. Hughes, soon to wed in June, received two teaspoons.

Local Girl Scouts begin cookie sales Monday continuing until May 28. Orders are sent to Chicago for fulfillment, with distribution starting June 4. Proceeds aid the Girl Scout movement in High Point. The home economics class for eighth and ninth grades presented a stage fashion show in the school auditorium. Miss Marguerite Kerner, ninth grade, wrote an edit titled The Evening Coat to introduce groups as they appeared before students, faculty, and guests.
