Asheville May 12 AP Wallace B Davis president of the failed Central Bank and Trust company testified Lea of Nashville overdrawn thousands while cross examining in his trial for giving a false report of the bank's condition. Records showed Lea owed the bank as much as 1 300 000 on notes and cashier's checks and certificates of deposit loaded the last days of the bank’s life. Davis read bank records detailing overdrafts from 29 500 on Sept 22 to 80 000 in days, with a letter notifying 129 000 overdraft. He said Lea closed his account Nov 7 after an argument when Caldwell and company failed. Davis admitted owing money to several banks and noted the bank paid him 60 000 in dividends before closing.
