SST revival pushed in House vote amid budget bid
The House considered an amendment to extend 1,800 mph SST development with an $85.3 million allocation in a $6.8 billion supplemental bill. Backers led by Rep. Egypt Sets Suez Opening Terms After Talks With Rogers
President Anwar Sadat reported to Egypts Arab Socialist Union committee that Cairo will reopen the Suez Canal only if Israel withdraws 115 miles from the waterway and agrees within six months to withdraw from all occupied Arab lands. Egypt also said it would study Israeli use of the canal within its political organization before taking a stand.

Legislature Advances Realignment of State House Districts
The House Legislative Districts Committee approved a redistricting measure increasing Mecklenburg from 7 to 8 seats Guilford from 6 to 7 and Wake from 4 to 6. A sub committee adopted Rep. James Green plan creating multi county districts in the eastern half while Rep. Donald Kincaid's two seat five county split proposal was rejected.
