Greensboro man wins college administration building contract
J L Crouse of Greensboro was awarded the contract for the Methodist Protestant college administration building to be built near the Greensboro road inside High Point city limits. The two story structure will measure 51 by 180 feet and will house administrative offices and the library until other buildings are erected. Plumbing and heating fixtures will be let later. Construction starts immediately with excavation and is expected to move quickly toward a fall opening, as college leaders pledge modern facilities with no time or expense spared.

Doughboys Gift Drums to Salvation Army Across Lands
Doughboys of the American Army of Occupation in Goblenz Germany craft bass drums for the Salvation Army as thanks for services on the Rhine. The first drum reached Tata Silk Farm in Southern India and was presented to a Hindu congregation in a mass meeting with hundreds of attendees. Guilford Man Narrowly Escapes After Auto Engine Collision
Thomas Farlowe of Guilford County narrowly escaped death when his car was struck by a shifting engine on West Broad Street near the Tomlinson Chair Co. He was rushed to Guilford General Hospital with a badly lacerated leg and a damaged ankle. Police noted the engine swerved onto his vehicle as he crossed the tracks. a crowd gathered at the scene.

State Comptroller James A. Wendell Dies at 53
Albany May 11 James A Wendell state comptroller died of apoplexy at his home after ten days of illness. Born in Fort Plain Montgomery he rose from first deputy to state comptroller and led the office for 28 years. He served 12 years on the Republican state ticket and was a member of the state veterans relief commission. His death is not expected to affect bonus payments.
