Ex Pastors Guilty Plea on Tax Evasion in 1971 Case
Ellis E. Adams, former Brightwood Baptist Church pastor, pled guilty in Greensboro to evading federal income taxes for 1971. Judge Hiram Ward scheduled sentencing. Adams faced up to five years and a $10,000 fine for understating taxable income of 33,198.12 in 1971, 14,604.56 in 1972, and 23,306.52 in 1973, while reporting no income in those years. Edith H. Black of High Point filed suit against Sherrodine Anita Gray for 15,000 in personal injury damages from a February 28 collision on W Green Drive at Foust Street.
