Gladis Kivett hosted a dinner at her Kivett street home honoring Miss Josephine Abrams on leave from South America. Abrams, a former YWCA executive secretary, serves as a representative for the local First Methodist Church and has spent five years in South America. Guests included Miss Le Davis, Miss Ferree, Mrs. R. B. Moore, Mrs. Wort Ivey, Mrs. Leigh Harper, and others as they enjoyed a four course meal and old records on a Regina.

Pilot Club opens year with Lana Smith new state in charge
The Pilot Club met for its May business session with Mrs Lana Smith installed as president. Officers and committee chairs reported on the past year while the club voted to donate to the Junior High School band uniform fund. Mrs Smith will represent the club at the Pilot International convention at Mackinac Island from July 2 to 6. Lord High Point attendees include Mrs Bertie York and Mrs Emma Sutton. The budget was presented and routine year-start business completed. A hobby note on removing heavy soil from cotton shirts with a soft brush and detergent followed.
