Washington May 7 The House faces a showdown over the 1.5 billion relief bill with 208.6 million for the Civilian Conservation Corps and 1.25 billion for WPA programs. A man who fell from a truck near Oliver Springs Tennessee died from a fractured skull. The victim, described as a stranger, was given a ride by truck driver Donald Arthur of Charleston West Virginia who did not know of the fall until hearing a cry. A coroner's jury absolved Arthur of blame.
Raleigh police announce that Tom McCoy an escaped convict and Red Chees have confessed to robbing six Raleigh stores in the past week Detective Captain Bruce Poole said. McCoy escaped from the Elizabeth City prison camp Wednesday Poole added.

San Quentin Cal May 7 Eleven inmates were hurt by a crazed Filipino attacker who slashed at fellow prisoners in a crowded shed before guard Chas Rexroad killed him. The fatal shot also wounded Rafael Aquila in the ankle.
