Change Ahead Of British Industries
London May 6 The Labour government's drive to nationalize Britain's key industries moved toward completion as the House of Commons approved a measure to bring inland transport under public ownership. The bill covers railroads buses trucks subways street cars and canals and now goes to the House of Lords where strong Conservative opposition is expected. A Lords rejection could trigger a constitutional crisis. The Commons passed the 4.26 billion transport nationalization bill without a record vote after defeating an opposition motion to reject it by 308 to 194.
