Coast Guard Tow Possible For Crippled Ciandi
Coast Guard vessels reached the fishing boat Ciandi off Charleston and believed they could tow it to port. The 45 foot Ciandi, en route from West Palm Beach to New Jersey with two men, rammed a sand bar near Cape Romine and began taking on water. Sportcaster took Ciandi in tow as a Coast Guard picket tried to meet them amid ground swells and poor visibility. The Ciandi crew reported continuing flooding but the cutter Travis and a picket boat arrived early today, and a tow appears feasible.
