Dr Willard H Dow president of Dow Chemical Co and his wife plus three others were killed when their private plane crashed near London's airport Ontario en route from Midland to Boston. Also aboard were Calvin Campbell and two Dow associates. Weather icing suspected. final leg to MIT banquet canceled.
Private Clyde A. Dimick 19, of the 504th airborne infantry, 82nd division, died in a traffic collision near Fort Bragg on his birthday. Dimick was a passenger in a car driven by Corporal Philip E. Miller. Miller sustained minor injuries when the vehicle struck a rear car and overturned. Highway Patrolman G M Har grove reported the incident.
