Raleigh reports February unemployment benefits rose to about 40,890 workers, over 90 percent higher than a year ago, due to declines in textile lumber and furniture jobs and tobacco processing season end. The unemployment fund stands near 135 million dollars with employer contributions totaling 185.7 million since 1937 and federal interest of 15.39 million. Benefits paid reached 46.95 million, about 1.3 million more than March 1 figures.

Milk Prices Coming Down in North Carolina
Milk consumers in Lexington High Point Winston Salem and Greensboro will see price cuts effective April 1 with milk down one cent per quart and heavy cream and creamed cottage cheese reduced as well.
